Description

The Ratio was never defeated, and you are a testament to that claim.

A servant of Ratio, you are a Kan soldier of the Army of Doubt. The Mirrorworld is your home, and it is your duty to stand guard on behalf of the Primordial Skeptics--the very beings a Large Host of settlers are seeking to destroy. As the army’s backbone, you will face these enemies on the front lines of battle. They will learn to fear you.

DETAILS

This armour set includes Epic Armoury’s Ratio Helmet, Torso armour, Gorget and Shoulders, Elbows, Thigh Guards, Leg Protection, Symbol, and Tunic, in order to fully gear your costume needs at a lower cost. Each piece is made from galvanized mild steel with rolled edges and top-grain leather straps and fittings, and is treated with Epic Armoury’s Epic Dark Metal coat, which gives the armour a rugged, antique finish. Built to withstand the abuse of a LARP or reenactment while keeping the user safe and comfortable, this armour will last a long time with regular leather and metal armour care.

Available in sizes Medium and Large.

Helmet

An asian-inspired piece of armour designed to protect the head during combat. Opponents and allies alike are sure to be struck with awe as you head into battle flaunting this stunning helmet. Incredible attention to detail and coloured brass and black, this helmet is spectacular as well as functional, since it offers maximum protection by covering the head, neck, and face. The visor is also reversible to allow for your desired comfort and vision while on the field.

Torso

An asian-inspired lamellar cuirass designed to protect the upper body. Offering excellent protection and great mobility, this armour also has a lavish design, scaly appearance, and a rustic, gleamy look. The front is made of overlapping steel panels stitched with top-grain leather cords, while the back is shielded by thick leather. Secure this cuirass by tightening the heavy leather straps at the shoulders, further adjusting with two straps along the sides for a perfect fit.

Gorget and Shoulders

Leather spaulders reinforced with brass coloured steel plates designed to provide protection for the throat, shoulders, and upper arms. This armour become one piece, with the shoulders and gorget attached together by leather cords. The top-grain leather gorget covers the thorax to the sternum and is designed to conform comfortably on the wearer. The shoulders are composed of spaulders covering the shoulder-joint and upper arms. The shoulder plates are strapped on at the gorget and around the upper arms.

Elbows

A set of steel elbow cups--or couters--designed to protect the elbow joints. The elbow cups are rounded with reinforcing ridges and decorative steel rivets. A half-rerebrace protects the upper arm while a half-vambrace protects the upper forearm below the couters. Leather cords are used to attach the brace to the gambeson, while three top-grain leather straps secure around the bicep, elbow and forearm to keep the piece in place.

Thigh Guard

Asian-inspired leather and steel armour designed to protect the upper thighs while in combat. Made from top-grain leather and reinforced with leather cord stitching and shield-shaped steel, these guards offer protection without slowing you down with unnecessary weight. Secure these guards by attaching them to Epic Armoury’s Ratio Torso armour.

Leg Protection

Cuisses to protect the thighs, articulated poleyns covering the knees, and half demi-greaves protecting the upper shins and sides of the calves. The knee protection is articulated, composed of five overlaying plates and fitted with a projecting fishtail-shaped plate to protect the hamstrings. The poleyn is attached to the leather thigh guard, which is held up with a leather loop around the belt. Secure the leg protection firmly in place by tightening the leather straps around the thighs, knees and calves.

Symbol

Epic Armoury’s Ratio Symbol is a decorative crest that can be easily added to your armour in order to display your loyalty. Pledge your allegiance to the Ratio with this gorgeous, ornament colored brass and black. Four leather strings make it easy to attach to different parts of your body or armor.

Tunic

A padded long-sleeve coat covering the torso from neck to the hips. It can be worn on its own or serve as essential padding under mail or armour. The tunic is donned by sliding it down over the head and is tightened around the waist with a cotton belt. Specifically designed to serve as padding for Epic Armoury’s Ratio armour, this sturdy tunic is constructed with heavy layers of fluffed cotton canvas sandwiched between layers of heavy cotton canvas along the sides and over the neck and shoulders. The heavy cotton sleeves are fitted with brass eyelets on a leather plate to allow the Ratio Elbows and Spaulders to be attached to the fabric.

Epic Armoury Dark products are specially treated to resist rust, but should still be treated with oil and kept in dry storage. All our metal armours contain leather parts that need regular maintenance using leather-care products to keep the leather from drying out.

Cleaning

If your armour does get wet, it is important that you dry it thoroughly as soon as possible.

After handling, wearing, or after six months of storage or display, all metal should be wiped with a clean cloth. Lightly oil the clean surface with a quality machine or mineral oil. Alternatively, you can apply a coating of wax to the entire surface of exposed metal. Allow the wax to dry for a couple of hours and then buff it lightly with a soft cloth.

Rust-Prevention and Removal

Store your armour is a dry place and check it every couple of months for signs of rust. If any is found, remove it by gently rubbing the affected spot with a mildly abrasive pad dipped in paste wax, oil, or water-displacing liquid.

Leather Straps and Fittings

Clean by removing dirt with a hard brush, then gently rub on leather soap with a clean, damp cloth until the leather appears clean. Remove soap with a separate damp cloth to wipe away any soap residue and then use a dry cloth to wipe away any remaining water from the leather.

You should always condition leather after cleaning, since the soap will have removed some of its natural oils. Treat the leather with mink oil, olive oil, or beeswax polish with a clean cloth, gently rubbing a small amount of oil or polish in circles into the leather. Allow the leather to soak in the oil before wiping the leather with a final clean cloth to remove any excess residue.
