Master the Blade with Académie Scrimicie

At CaliCON 2025, Académie Scrimicie invites you to experience the art of historical European swordplay through their participatory workshop, “Maniement d’armes anciennes.” Led by Lévy LeBlanc, Laurent Gascon-Affriat, and Éric Théberge, this activity introduces visitors to safe and authentic techniques using nylon simulators, gloves, and protective masks.

Each introductory session lasts 30 to 45 minutes and welcomes participants of all levels, from curious beginners to seasoned LARP or HEMA fans. The instructors will guide you through proper stances, guards, and strikes — bringing centuries-old European martial traditions to life.

In addition to the hands-on sessions, the Académie will also present live demonstrations of Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) with steel weapons in a friendly tournament-style format. These short 20-minute bouts will showcase precision, control, and respect — the heart of the discipline.

Join them outside for an unforgettable martial experience that blends history, movement, and passion.
